Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, or simply "Santa" is a legendary and historical character associated with bringing gifts on Christmas Day.
Saint Nicholas of Myra is the primary inspiration for the Christian figure of Santa Claus. He was a 4th century Christian bishop of Myra in Lycia, a province of the Byzantine Anatolia, now in Turkey. Nicholas was famous for his generous gifts to the poor, in particular presenting the three impoverished daughters of a pious Christian with dowries so that they would not have to become prostitutes. He was very religious from an early age and devoted his life entirely to Christianity.

Yes there is a SANTA CLAUS.

How could a small child get so worked up and excited about something that does not exist?

Have you ever stood in for Santa in the Christmas parade?
I did once--riding on top of a fire truck, waving at all the kids.
Now tell me there is no Santa Claus.

Absolutely! Every Christmas a group of co-workers and I make sure that Santa visits some of the kids in the community that would otherwise not have a Christmas. He is as real as they come, my friend and happily welcomed into many houses. Tell your friends and see if he isn't in your community too.

If he were real he should be shot for ruining Christmas!
Okay, okay that's a bit extreme, but anybody as sick of commercialized holiday season as I am ought to be able to relate even if you're afraid to admit it!
