Yes, very possible and is frequently done.
"where do you live" is one such question.
I try to avoid answering questions that seem to be a "trap."

Thanks for the question.

Both the religious and immigration sections are full of examples of baiting, in fact most of the questions seem to be posted with this intent.
You cannot get a virus just by reading or answering the questions, but in no circumstances click on links. This also applies to emails from unknown sources.

If you feel the question or the person (Avatar) is suspect, better not to answer. Meaning trolling. Because that is just people wasting their and your time.

We can get viruses from so many other sites on the net too, if you click on the site, or open a suspect email. I do virus checks every two days.

Re: viruses - just answering a question on Y!A does not give a open window to someone to spread a virus - however, should you click on an accompanying link; or go into IM with them or allow them to email you and open their emails and links attached thereto...yes it is a possibility.

I rather believe that some of those weird, stupid, ignorant or hateful questions are posted by trolls who have nothing better to do but get their adrenaline up and running by creating mayhem which is nectar to them

Gosh, I answer better than I ask. besides the indisputable fact that I do have questions, I prefer to respond to because of the fact in a small way i think of i'm helping make somebody's day or incredibly help them make a call of their existence. On a facet word: i like the commencing up element of your question. It variety of made me mad that I had clicked in this finding for a funky, nice little question and it wasn't particularly what it marketed. Then, for sure, I made it to the lol section and became thinking "you purchased me." Darn you or for this reason darn me. ;D

I am not that computer savy when it comes to viruses, but I know some "trolls" just like bating people. It must give them some sense of satisfaction and power. Most have some sort of mental health issues and are seeking the attention that they are not otherwise receiving in their personal lives. How unfortunate for all parties. However, if you know your enemy you have the power to make them powerless. They seek the satisfaction of causing discord, ignoring them or blocking/reporting them is your best option

The trolls live for baiting people. I'm no computer whiz but I believe you can only get a virus if you click on one of the trolls' funky links.

So, watch out and keep your QandAs private.

I think they do bait for answers, when I see these types of questions I just move right along and leave no comment.
