Why don't they just live out their life and be done with it? Why does a tree spread its seeds? Why doesn't that tree just enjoy being a tree and that is it? Is there some reason it has that we don't know about? Yeah, sure, I know all living things are trying to pass on their genes, but why?

The most fundamental attributes which living beings acquired were awareness( sensation, perception, stimuli, whatever you may call it) and reproduction.These attributes were buttressed by self sustaining metabolism.

"Living things" is a very broad spectrum. Reproduction happens in many ways; Sexually- male and female mating Asexual- no sex takes place, the organism 'copies' itself Parthenogenesis development of an embryo without fertilization There are others but these seem to most prominent

The world must be peopled. We are animals and we must have sex. A new generation is what happens when we have sex. We don't necessarily think about spreading our seed, it happens without our knowledge. It is called survival. Ironically we can't exist without each other

people want to have sex, reproduction is a by product. ironically if you think from a evolutionary point of view the species has sex to survive, its interst in sex is the byproduct.
