1. Led Zeppelin - pioneers - many great songs...interesting vocal style fits the music, or perhaps set the standard?
2. Doors - Jim Morrison - somewhat over-rated, but still I enjoy the music
3. Kiss - makeup - crazy look of rock, enjoyed most of the music
4. The Beatles - over-rated...some good, few great, more mediocre
5. Guns n' Roses - late 80s metal, an exmaple of bands imploding, again an example of an artist breaking away from the norm of vocal style and making it sound good
6. Aerosmith - longevity - made good music, still making good music
7. Jane's Addiction - Perry whatshisname...then Porno for Pyros...not much there for me, some catchy tunes...but not much that would make me go buy an album
8. Tool - political and twisted - Aenema is great...LA is a total hole
9. Fall out Boy - rubbbish
10. My Chemical Romance - more rubbish

When forming an opinion i often think in sounds before forming actual sentences...
ha.
the main sounds [just so you don't think i'm making erotic noises] are:
Woo = Positive
Urgh = Negative
Hmm = A tad iffy

1. Led Zeppelin - Woo
2. The Doors - Woo-ish
3. Kiss - Hmm
4. The Beatles - Woo!
5. Guns n' Roses - WOO! [favourite band]
6. Aerosmith - Woo
7. Jane's Addiction - Woo
8. Tool - Woo

[They don't deserve to be listed so close to the bands above]

9. Fall out Boy - urgh
10. My Chemical Romance - urgh

I'm in a strange mood today, i apologise.

I'm going to go a different route and give you the first impression I had when hearing / seeing them for the first time.

1. Led Zeppelin - Overrated. I was in the 6th grade and a friend played "Stairway to Heaven" for me. I was bored before the big guitar solo kicked in. I've grown to appreciate them more, but I still think they're idolized way too much.

2. The Doors - Overrated, and damn that organ is annoying as hell. I still feel the same way.

3. Kiss - First time I saw their picture, I was scared to death. I was 2. Now, they're my favorite band, and have been for the past 20 years.

4. The Beatles - I knew next to nothing about them (other than who they were) until my Dad played Rubber Soul for me. I was 12, and I was floored by that masterpiece of an album.

5. Guns n' Roses - I saw the video for "Welcome to the Jungle" on Headbanger's Ball when it aired for the first time in '87. I bought the album the next day.

6. Aerosmith - Introduced by the "Walk This Way" collaboration with Run DMC... eh. A few years later when Permanent Vacation came out... eh. After getting my hands on Toys in the Attic... holy sh*t! Second all time favorite band.

7. Jane's Addiction - I gotta be honest, I didn't "get it" until years later when the guitar player in my college band insisted on playing "Jane Says." I still wouldn't call them a favorite, but there are definite flashes of brilliance in their work.

8. Tool - Sorry, by the time they broke, I had grown out of the dark, creepy stuff. I never liked them.

9. Fall out Boy - I laughed when I heard them. I laughed even harder when I saw them.

10. My Chemical Romance - Same as above.

NP: "Dirty Livin'" - Kiss
