I have sent packages before and they were never received, was told it is not unusual for the customs people to steal the packages. Can you tell me the best way to ship and if I can insure it, and how it works? Thanks so very much

UPS is OK. Insure it.
I have heard all sorts. But they do reach.

You could use the couriers: Dart, Fed Ex and all...is safest. No such customs involved.

DHL has a pretty extensive network in India. You could try it. Do insure the package. Others that you might consider are UPS and FedEx.

It depends on how big the package is. I have been sending packages to india through USPS flat rate boxes...they ahve reached every time... once i did it flat rate priority mail envelop and it reached in mostly one week safe .

But u can def. so it by UPS , Fed- Ex and get it ensured. It also depends on how much you wanna spend.
