my boyfriends uncle was murdered the other day, he got in an arguement with some guy in an apartment and they started physically fighting and the man beat my boyfriends uncle to death......the man was just let go yesterday with no charges filled against him! why would the police let a murderer go free? all they told the family was that the man was remorsfull and has never been in trouble before. ok so if it was lets say an "acident" why wouldnt they charge him with like manslatter or something?

I doubt that it was a situation where he was just let go. Apparently there was not enough evidence for the DA to issue a murder charge. That could mean any number of things from the homicide was accidental to the homicide was justified (the uncle was the aggressor and the man was defending himself).

Before your boyfriend takes the word of anyone (police or other witnesses) have him or his relatives go to the DA in your county and ask the DA what he/she based their decision to release on. The DA is an elected official and serves at the pleasure of the people and is responsible for issuing charges as well as defending his decision to charge or not charge.

He was probably let go so that the district attorney could have time to build a case. If held for too long without being charged, there is the chance that the entire case could be thrown out. They need to make sure that there is enough evidence to form a 'prima facia' case against him so that he can be charged and arraigned.

First and foremost, the Police did not let him go. Police investigate crimes. Your local District Attorney decides whether or not a suspect is charged and placed in jail. There must be more to the story than you know about.............

Could have been looked at as self defense. If the family of the victim want to sue the man, then I think they can in a civil trial.

Because they do not currently have enough evidence to get a conviction. If they rush to trial it is likely the guy would get off completely. If he is tried and found not guilty, there is nothing that can be done later if new evidence surfaces.

Once they have the evidence to proceed, they will.

There has got to be more to it than this. If you strongly feel this is the whole story, contact the district attorney in the county you live in.
What state did this happen in?

He probably was an illegal alien. The illegal aliens don't need to follow the same laws as the citizens of the U.S.
