Do'nt worry too much about it. I have the same problem (also 12 weeks). As long as you're taking your vitamins you should (and the baby) should be ok. Once the nausea subsides you can begin eating healthier again (that's what I did when I was pregnant with my first.. and I plan on doing that with my second now). The doc said with my first that I just needed to eat something. it didn't matter what. I ended up losing 30 pounds because I was so sick. Just eat what you can and take your vitamins then eat healthier when your nausea goes away. Good luck with the pregnancy!

I also have terrible nausea (at 10 weeks) the doctor recommed I take 25 mg of vitamin B-6 and 1 Unisom (25mg) at bedtime and it has helped. Check with your doctor to see if this is an option for you. As far as nutrition, eat what stays down. I eat small meals evey 2 hours and drink a lot of water. The main thing is to keep hydrated. If you are so miserable that it is severly interupting daily routine then ask your doc for alternative options. Be sure to find out the symtoms of dehydration also. With my last pregnancy I couldn't even keep water down so my doc prescribed Reglen. My son was born very healthy!

No need to worry. Continue taking your prenatal vitamins. During my pregnancy I was like that to. I was always feeling sick and puking. Most of the time couldn't even keep simple things down. Do to feeling sick I had a poor appetite. I was told to eat soda crackers it helps with the nausea. And I ate lite things, I stuck to eating things I felt my stomach tolerated. Make sure to drink or eat even if it is something simple. Like crackers and 2 hard boiled eggs. Try drinking ginger ale to help with the nausea. The times you are able to eat a regular meal do to not feeling sick do so. Like I said I was always sick through out the pregnancy and had a healthy baby girl. She is 18 years old.

This is pretty normal for the first trimester. Most doctors will say just eat whatever you can. It doesn't help to eat nutritious foods if you are just vomiting them back up. You aren't going to hurt your baby. But just be sure to eat very nutritiously when you get back your appetite and your ability to keep food down.
p.s., Not really sure where someone came up with the idea that the mother's nutrition does not affect the outcome of the baby... tell that to the doctors who tell women to eat healthy diets...

the mothers nutrition during pregnancy does not effect the health or the outcome of the child. They have done many MANY studies on this. In all the industrialized nations women are healthy enough before pregnancy to survive it and produce healthy children no matter how much or what they eat.
Whatever you can take in at this point is what you should eat. The smell of food made me sooo sick until about 14 weeks. All i could eat, of all things, was sausage.

No, you will be just fine. Millions of women go thru the same thing. I felt exactly like you and i only ate a few crackers and some junk food ...
i think the prenatal vitamin made me even more sick. it was awful...
but with week 14 i was suddenly a newborn person...i felt great and then my hunger started...i ate too much then....
so, hang in there....it will be maybe just a few more days and you hopefully will feel fine.

Nausea, may or may not go away. I got sick every time I took my prenatal vitamins. Then I found these lolly pops at the Motherhood Maternity store that are meant to keep you from being sick.
And instead of prenatal pill I drank ensure.
But the lolly pops helped.

Do not take the pre-natal vitamins on an empty gut, eat dry crackers upon awakening, and know that nausea is normal. If it gets to the point that you can not conduct your activities of daily living, then tell your physician. He/she can help.....

I used Sea Bands and they worked well. You can buy them at the drugstore in the nausea section. If the nausea is severe, though, you need to speak with your doctor beforehand.

If you are really concerned, consult your doctor! This isn't really something you want to take any chances on.
And, try doing some research on related Web-sites.
