People should get 8 hours of sleep a day.
Some people get 6.
It depends on your body.
Some people can be ok with 6 hours of sleep or less but they take naps.
I think you are lucky that you have the time to sleep 10 hours day. I wish I could sleep 10 hours but I am so busy with school and work and my ebay store.

I was actually reading something interesting the other day on sleep. They say that the traditional accepted amount of sleep that an adult should get is 8 hours. Then it was saying that for many adults that is not enough due to the facts that they have things happen through the night...either kids wake you up, some people have sleep apnea...whatever it is, if you wake up feeling tired and not refreshed then you have something not allowing you to sleep deep and well at night and you should get as much as you need.

The body only requires about 5. However, professionals are suggesting that atleast 7 is proper, with no more than 10 being 'very good'. I get around 6 and am fine; however, it varies from person to person. For example; my stepbrother must have atleast 8 to function right, while my best friend can have as little as 2 and pass a chemistry test with no problem, whatsoever.

Everyone has different needs.Someone who is a farmer or has an active prayer life etc. may not fit into a 'regular' pattern of 8-10 hours.Sleep is like a one-arm bandit.Too much of one thing is good for nothing.Yet, sleep deprivation can change one's productivity and temperament drastically. Each individual has to decide on a happy medium because what is good for the goose may be detrimental for the gander.

8 hours of sleep at the most is good but 10 hours is fine. Just don't sleep too much.

Humans only need 4 hours of sleep to live, but we all you'll wake up miserable and groggy. Generally, 8 hours or so is decent. 10 hours of sleep is plenty.
