For some reason Windows thinks I have to reformat my second hard drive. Out of the blue it can't read it so it quickly wants to reformat it. I know doing so will erase everything....I know for a fact that untouched data is still there and can be recovered. My computer just needs a way to recognize it.....Windows can't do it....how can I save my HDD? I tried everything windows has to offer, but every program wants to reformat it.....I just need my computer to recognize it. The HDD is good, there is just an error somewhere. This happened to me once, but eventually solved it self.....I WILL NOT reformat, I just need a solution.

good call, reformatting is a LAST RESORT tool, not a first step as sooo many are led to believe. Firstly, can you retrieve the needed data off the hdd (try ez recovery pro) then i would run a scan with spinrite to ensure its not bad sectors ect. check those first to see whats going on then repost question with results.

switch the master slave pin
leave it out for a while(not connected in any way to the computer)
it might solve the problem

Might have been more helpful to actually INCLUDE the EXACT error message you got, then we could advise you properly
