Yes, I can. Once again he has proven how out of touch he is with the American people. Because he comes from money, he has never had to do things like work an extra job or sacrifice luxuries to ensure that his children could have tests or surgeries. He obviously does not value children because they can neither vote nor put money in Bushco's coffers.
Actions like this always have a way of catching up. Remember when Ronald Reagan voted against stem cell research? Later on, he developed Alzheimer's Disease. Had stem cell research been in place, doctors might have found a cure or arrested the disease's development enough to let him live longer than he did without suffering.
Some time ago I saw a picture of him with some children at a New York public school. I hope the next time we see a picture of him with children it will show the children spitting on him.
Bottom line; Bush is a fake person.

I am not suprised and I agree he is out of touch with what the people want, but it's not as bad as it seems.
He doesn't want to expand a program that isn't being used to it's full potential as it is. Estimated 1 million children who would qualify for the SCHIP program now don't use it, so resources should go to urging the poor to get help first, before we start qualifying children whose parents make up to $80,000 a year.
But most of the people and the Senate want this to pass and his veto is being politicized, hurting the Republicans. The President did explain his position but he also said this program is too costly. That's absurd given the endless amounts of money that has hemorraged away from the people of this country into the black hole in Iraq and all its contractors.

WHat are you refering to the AMerican people that just want a hand out... YES childcare is expensive.. but that bill would have been paying for children whose parent COULD afford it.. The purpose of those programs is to help families UNDER the poverty level. NOT the ones that would rather spend money on alcohol, cigarettes, expensive cars, etc.. instead OF PROVIDING FOR THEIR CHILDREN>>. ATLEAST BUSH stands up for what he believes in INSTEAD of doing whatever just so he will be liked...
You don't have to always agree with what the President does.. BUT atleast give him the respect and SUPPORT he deserves.. EVERYBODY always thinks that THEY could do a better job.. WELL GROW UP , Go into politics and run for president someday.. UNTILTHEN>> LIVE WITH IT!!!!

Shame on the Democrats for hiding behind Children, using Government Health Care for Children as an excuse for Socialized Medicine for all.

Yes I can believe it, and thank God he did. I give props to Bush for having the balls to veto that dump of a bill. I for one am totally applauding this.
The Democrats, and some Republicans for that matter, are so out of touch with reality.

The job of the President is not to follow the will of the people. That is the job of the Senate and House of Representatives. The job of the President is to make decisions based upon what he feels is best for the country as a whole. You may disagree with his decisions, but that doesn't mean he is not doing his job.

And how much are you personally ponying up for this? The democrats want this not the people. I am totally disgusted with this type of question because you are implying that it is ok for someone to come in and mandate that I pay for someone else being irresponsible.

I just saw the headline.
It didn't surprise me. He could care less about the American people. He just needed our vote.
What pisses me off is that practically everyone in Congress is disagreeing with him and trying to override the veto, but they have been unsuccessful. How is it that we have a government who puts these important decisions in the hands of just ONE man. And not just one man.......one very, incredibly stupid man! And everyone else disagrees with him, but there's nothing we can do about it? What the hell????
This country is slowly turning into a monarchy.
