I love to drink but have never gambled but wanna learn (black jack). I know how to play it but I've never played in a casino. Also, I'm going w/ my gf so strip clubs are a no-go. :-(

The Venetian is awesome.

The minumum bets there are a little high, though.

Do hold down on the drinking while you are gambling. Set yourself a budget. Quit if you hit that budget. Do not try chasing after it, trying to win it back. If you're down to your last $20 of your buget, try the megabucks slots. $10 million never hurt anybody.

Craps is a lot of fun... so many ways to win... and lose. Craps players make more noise than anyone in the casino - always.

The wife really loves to play roulette.

Good luck.

Your best bet for black jack is to practice all the rules before going. I have been to Vegas 3 different times and this last stay in July was my first time to gamble at a table. I found that the New York New York was lucky for me. I played early morning around 3 am and was able to ask questions being the only one at the table. Find a $5 or $10 table that isn't packed and go for it. I won about $75 after my loses; not a big gambler so I don't loose much; I would keep what I bet separate after a win and play on my winnings. Now while you play they will serve you beverages free of charge. Now in Vegas, the strip clubs are not the greatest anyways, alot to due b/c of prostitution. I might suggest an adult show (topless) to spice things up and make it a little more romantic. I would walk thru alot of the casinos b/c they are all unique and it is something I do every time I have gone. Check out the shows along the strip, Bellagio fountains are great at night, the Pirate Show at the Treasure Island, New York New York roller coaster, Eiffel tower in Paris, Wax musueum and Gondolas in the Venetian, Mandalay Bay shark reef, Dolphin/tiger exhibit at the Mirage, Caesar's mall and the Venetian's mall. Go downtown to Freemont street to see the lights at night. Downtown gambling is cheaper and sometimes it has better odds. There is a great restuarant and bar in the Treasure Island hotel I cannot think of the name but it is Hawaiian themed and is right outside the theater; the bar has great atmosphere, they have an Oxygen bar that was cool, as well as food was not expensive. The monorail is a great way to get around $9 for a day pass and the bus is $5 day pass. Bus stops more and takes a little longer but will stop closer to some destinations. Night clubs are pricey @ $20-30 per person as well as shows. I recommend the Blue Man group and Zumanity. Good Luck and have fun!

You picked a great place to stay! The Venetian is one of (if not the) nicest resorts on the strip. It in a great location, too, so you won't have to venture too far to see a lot of the great sights. Most of the casinos have "classes" for beginner gamblers. YOu don't have to venture too far into one to see the signs. I would start out on slots (you can play video blackjack in most casinos) to get a feel for it, then work your way up to the tables. SET A BUDGET! It's easy to get sucked in a blow all you money on the first day. As far as going with your g/f...there's plenty for couples to do...shows, and hundreds of clubs. Grab the montly entertainment guide that is at the airport, in every cab, or when you check into the hotel...that will tell you all about everything there is to do, where it is, and how much it will cost. OH yeah -- as long as your are gambling, the drinks in the casino are FREE :-)

if you look up your hotel, you will find that there are free classes teaching you how to play certain table games. The first time is always intimidating, no matter what. I'm going on oct. 25th for the weekend, I like blackjack three card poker, and roulette. the roulette wheel is a blast! If you and your girlfriend want to have a good time playing a table game, that is the one. Some Casinos have a game called Rapid Roulette. I play at the Imperial Palace. The drinks are free, just tip the waitress. I play there, and they always take care of me. go on some websites, you'll find all kind of fun stuff to do. For your first time, just try to enjoy everything you see. If you see something you want to do, just do it. dont try and plan the trip too much, cause it wont turn out the way you thought it would. just wing it. walk down the strip and check everything out. The Bellagio has a dancing water show you should check out at nite. good luck!

Iron clad rule for gambling: Don't drink and gamble! You will be broke in a hurry. Light drinking only. Don't get drunk. Play low limit. Watch for a while then sit down and have fun. The dealers will guide you. They are on your side. They want tips. Always tip your dealers! Check out some shows when you arrive, pick what you will both like and make reservations. There are loads of dance clubs all over LV. There are plenty of free sights to see just walking or driving the strip.

The Venetian is beautiful. You're going to love it and there is so much to do right there in the hotel. The shopping is great, there is Madame Trousseau's Wax Museum. At Treasure Island there is a free show with Siren's. At the Tropicana there are usually great displays or shows. If you are Star Trek fans at all, there is a whole hotel (I forget which one) but you can easily spend 4 to 6 hours there. At Excalibur you can see jousting and eat . There is so much to do---you won't have a hard time keeping busy.

You will have a great time.
If you want to see any show book them in advance.

Here are some websites for you:

I also suggest you take the Laughlin Tour to Reno and Hoover Dam., and if you can afford it then take the helicopter ridge over Vegas at night.

There is a lazor light show on freidmont st downtown every night to you dont want to miss.

I also would pay $5.00 per person to ride the Double Douce Bus up and down the strip, its an experience and you wont get tired of walking

You are going to have a good time. The Venetian is definitely a good choice. I am not sure how rich you are but there are lots of free attractions in Vegas. You can have a great time without spending a penny. http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/free-attractions.html

If you would like to play blackjack at a very nice casino with low table minimums try the Orleans> $5 tables even on Friday & Saturday night. They have a free shuttle from Bill's Gambling Hall.

The two best places to play BJ in LV are the El Cortez, with it's 6 single deck games and the Four Queens with 2.

You're going to find a lot of 6/5 BJ on the strip, avoid those games.

Slots-A-Fun has one single deck game but the table is always busy.

Hint - To "buy in" place your money on the table(not in a betting area) and ask the dealer for "chips please" and tell him/her which denomination you want(you might want to ask for a few $1 or .50c chips so you can toke(tip) the dealer every now and then, by placing a bet for him/her. I always look for a friendly/fun dealer, if the table is having fun and the dealer is smiling, that's a very good sign.

Or maybe try your hand at a BJ tournament

For inexpensive drinks
Casino Royale - $1 frozen Margaritas & or Michelob. Slots-A-Fun has several brands of premium beer for $1.25.

If you would like to try your hand at Craps or Roulette try the Westin Casuarina, you can play both for $1 on weekdays from 5pm-10pm. The Westin calls it "gamblers happy hour". You can play .25c chips on the roulette table, just ask the dealer for them when you buy in. The Westin is just East of the strip, on Flamingo.

Sign up for a slot club card before you play and give it to the dealer when you buy in. >If you're going to play red($5) and want to be appreciated for your play, you're going to have to play off the strip. On the strip unless you're playing green($25) a hand for 4 hours they are not going to pay attention to you.

We go to LV 2-3 times a year for 2 weeks or more at a time and have for over 20 years.(6/4 - 7/5) 31 nights all comped and we are going back(12/13/07 - 1/1/08) 19 nights, only 7 are comped this time, we search the internet for room deals and have the other 12 nights for $254. NO, we are not high rollers, we play nickel/dime/quarter video poker, and follow the 4 rules.

To be a successful gambler, you must know
