Michael Chertoff was not Attorney General. That job went to Janet Reno. Mister Chertoff served as a U.S. attorney!

Well, why most incoming Presidents do replace all the Attorney Generals.

Most do not replace all of them immediately.

What was surprising was that Clinton replaced so many , so fast.

And only kept one Attorney General in place after the first month.

It usually takes a year or two, before they replace them all.
