Can I connect them with a DVD-D cable?

Ok, it's a 1440 x 900. I guess I should have said that.

So just get a dual link? I won't have any pin problems trying to plug the DVI-D cord into the DVI-I input?

Yes.

If you are at a resolution of 1920 by 1200 or less then a single link cable will do.

Over that you need a dual link cable and compatible dual link support in the monitor and video card.

Yes you will be able to connect them. As mentioned before if the resolution is 1920 x 1200 or less it should work perfectly.
