I have a 50 gallon fish tank, and I have a little 10 gallon tank I used two put them both in there to prevent other fishes in my large aquariam from eating the eggs, and I use to allow the baby fish to grow before I place them in with the larger fish. I placed the two oscars in the small tank for a week, and still had to results in reproduction.. Any advice?

wow...breedingfishes isnt as easy as get two and wait one week. if it was alot more breeders would be out there and .....ranting...

Anyway, oscars need to breed in at least 100 gallons, as 16 inches ea ..they will need alot of room to raise their fry and the females can be very aggressive to other tankmates.

oscars are very hard to sex as well. usually breeders have groups of 10-30 oscars in a 2000 gallon pond and allow them to pair up and then move that pair into a 125 gallon breeder tank and allow them to breed.

You not in shape to breed nor care for the oscars....upgrade asap.

How long have you had your oscars? If these were just a recent purchase, and even if you've had them a while and just recently moved into the new tank, they may still be getting used to the new surroundings and not yet comfortable enough to spawn.

If these were a recent purchase, you may not have both genders - about the only way to differentiate is size and "plumpness" of a female with eggs.

Do they have substrate they can move around easily to dig a spot to spawn?

If these are a known pair that you've had for a while, you may just need to be patient and let them settle in to the new surroundings.

when you have the two lady and male, be certain they're old adequate yet not too old, you may positioned the male in a tank (a minimum of 10 gallons) and positioned a great jar interior the tank with the female in it. be certain the tank is fairly shallow, the utmost that the water could be is 6 inches. The male will swim around the female and he will 'flare up'. ultimately he will start to construct his bubble nest. wait and spot for this would take in to 4 days to take place. purely verify you're feeding them freeze-dried bloodworms or stay brine shrimp. while the male has a particularly great nest, launch the emale being careful to not disturb the nest. they are going to chase one yet another around and there'll maximum liekly be some fin-nipping. The male will ultimately gain enticing the female over to his nest. she will the two enable the male to 'embody' her, or she will attempt to distroy the nest. If she destroys it, do away together with her and place her back interior the jar and permit the male to rebuild his nest. proceed those steps till the female will enable the male 'embody' her. be certain that the water is sparkling and that there is no gravel on the backside of the tank. There could be hiding places for the female and 0.5 of a styrefoam cup for the male's nest. as quickly as they're accomplished 'embracing', that may final as long as 12 hours, the male will chase the female away, and he or she will could be bumped off.
