I'm thinking about Randy Moss. He's accused of not being a team player, but his teams have sucked. What's more important, wanting to win, or wanting to be a team player?

It's easy to be a team player when your team wins. Acting gracefully in the face of defeat is a sign of class. Their aren't many class acts out in the sports world today.

Being a team player goes hand in hand with winning I think. There is an obvious difference in the Randy Moss on the field now and the Randy Moss who took the field in Oakland. Time will tell if he keeps it up. But successful teams act like teams. Their players work hard, they don't act like prima donnas, they don't flap their gums about team business to the media. Winning teams leave their ego at home and do what's best for the team. They win as a team and lose as a team. Teams that win consistently don't have very many guys who don't do that, if any at all.

A guy could be the greatest player in the world but if he acts like a baby that isn't making the team better and it isn't winning games.

being a team player involves anyalyzing your defeat and trying to make the people around you perform to the level that gives the team a chance to win next time. hence, if you have a bad attitude, your wasting your energy, and you should focus on what you can do to help the struggling players.

for the most part, players struggle due to mental breakdowns, not physical, so obviously if you have a big head and don't act positively, you are hurting your team.

on the other hand, if you have guys on your team that don't listen, and just seem to suck overall, the ball has to come out of their hands if your team is to have a chance. many times that is out of the players control and the best thing to do is shut up, do your job, fulfill your contract and ask for a trade !

Randy Moss is so lucky I hope he knows it !

Randy Moss is awesome. The problem isn't that he isn't a team player it that he openly admitted that if he wasn't supposed to get the ball he didn't try. That means he wasn't doing his part. If your not getting the ball you still need to act as though you are to force the defense to cover you. If the Defense can tell he's not getting the ball they can key on other players. He said, I will try when I want to. Unacceptable.

If you do your job and complain and aren't a team player, see T.O., then you at least are saying i'm doing all I can you other guys have to step it up. Still not always good but at least he's trying.
