no

the Iraqi people are

1. afraid to leave their homes ( if they still have one)

2. go without food for days at a time ( I have many Iraqi friends living amongst the American inflicted turmoil).. they hate Americans btw.

3. They bury their family members at alarming rates.

4. they have no security of anything

5. they have seen so much slaughter in front of their eyes that many are praying for the Sadam days.

and on and on..

nothing good came out of the first gulf war.. and nothing good is coming out of this one..

the reasons for the USA to be in Iraq has nothing to do with liberation and freedom for the Iraqi people... it has however... everything to do with agendas and money...

The birthplace of civilization has been on top and on the bottom many times in its 10,000 years of history. Saddam's Regime and the USA occupation are nothing but a tiny blip on their history. Long after the USA will be dissolved, sold to the highest bidder and reborn into a new nation, the land, where man fist settled, farmed and created laws will still exist.

Of course America helped Iraq. America helped Iraq by making Iraq free of their own oil.

The USA has given Iraq the chance to stand on its own without a dictator. If you consider being under a dictator a good thing, then no, the USA has not helped.

Basically, the USA has led the horse to water. Now it has to drink.

It's a process, but they are rid of a brutal dictator and at least in theory under the rule of law of a democratically elected government. If we leave before they're self-sustaining, or if they choose unwisely after that, then perhaps not, but at least the opportunity is there, so if you believe in democracy, you have to have at least a little spark of optimism.

I can't see how it has helped Iraq. Their lives are miserable, we've killed over 100,000 of them, and they are fleeing their own country at a pretty fast clip.

You'll hear all these airy concepts about "freedom" and "liberation" but in reality they are just suffering worse than they ever have.

This is not necessarily evil intent on our part. America is more like a baby in diapers with a pistol.

Burger King and KFC now exist in the Green Zone. Now how on earth could that be anything but good?

This is rarely reported, but outside of the big cities the citizens tend to do very well. Women are going to school, and life is mostly peaceful. Iraq is a big country, and all we ever hear about is Baghdad. Good news is not as popular as bad news, this is why you never hear about it.
