Where is it written that life is fair...or has to be made fair?

Well, Rich, it is very fair. Teens have tendency to drink for the wrong reasons(not that I believe there is any right reason). 1) Impress their peers or feel part of the 'in' group. 2) Out of rebellion towards their parents, the establishment...etc.. At these earlier ages there isn't the experience to know when to stop(or even if you want to), that is, knowing you have reached your limit. The mind is still developing, thus give it every chance possible to allow it to grow into a productive machine. At under 21 we are still developing our lifelong habits, also. Furthermore, teens are killing themselves, and others... in cars, and with alcohol poisoning. The Age Limit is good. Twenty-one is not far away, believe me, times passes all too fast. Have fun, legally, and without hurting yourself or another.

As far as the States Constitutions go.... well, I don't believe there is even one state that actually has a legal drinking age THEIR law. I do not believe an states adopted it, they were given the choice to decide whether or not to raise the limit, and they did... not Federally forced... BUT, I have a bad memory, so you might want to check this out for yourselves!

Enjoy life, Rich... it floats by faster than the speed of light... :)

It can be by amending each and every state's constitution, since the drinking age is usually mandated by the state. It can be done, since the last amendment to the US Constitution was to repeal 21 as the age to vote, since the majority of boys, and I do mean boys, in Vietnam were 18-21, but they couldn't vote since they weren't 21 to vote the a55holes out of office who sent them there in the first place. Now if you are 18 you can exercise your franchise.

A drunk with an M-4 carbine is a bit more than I care to think about. When you're old enough to stop thinking the world's supposed to be fair, then you'll be old enough to drink.

Because 18 year olds have a propensity to drink to excess and drive drunk. Its a matter of safety not fairness.

About as fair as federally committed blackmail in order to force states to choose between federal funding and adjusting their internal affairs to federal standards there by giving up more of their sovereignty.

this fact is an absolute OUTRAGE!

further i hear stories about how police are setting up 'sting' operations and stakeouts and otherwise wasting their time trying to catch kids drinking - even when they are no where near a vehicle.

our govt is totally out of control - and this is as clear an example of it as you will ever see...

Its not. If you are in the military you should be allowed to buy and consume alcohol. If you are not in the military it still should be 21.

It isn't, but, they can vote. So, if this is a right they want, they need to vote into office those that support this goal.
