Wants me to go on Provera, my last doctor put me on it to induce a period. It didn't regulate it and I haven't had one since. Now my new doctor wants to try it again 7 months later. Is Provera just used to induce a period once? Is there a chance it can regulate it? What is your experience with Provera? I would love any information!

thanks!

Insulin resistance is what is causing my period not to occur. I am on Metformin, she said that should help it occur in 3 or so months... and it still hasn't!, so now we are going to do Provera.

I've been there and done that. Has your doctor told you why you quit having your periods, or why your periods aren't regular. I used Provera to induce periods so that my husband & I could attempt to have a child since I just quit having periods. Anyways, the Provera works to induce periods, but for me personnally to continue to have a monthly period, I've got to take the Provera. My last dose of Provera was in August, had my period in August and haven't had my period since nor have I taken the Provera and I'm not pregnant. The only thing that I found Provera good for was the reassurance that every month I pretty much knew I was going to have a period and when it was going to start.

Good Luck

From what I've seen here on YA is that women have had to use Provera several times to get their period to come.

For some women it does regulate it and for some it does not.

Mira she's talking about PROVERA, not depo provera.

I've read horror stories about what Depo can do to your cycle. If you're already irregular, the pill might be a better option. I would get a second opinion from a different doctor.
