and why? I think F1 because it takes more talent to drive around a circuit rather than driving around in a oval. Buts thats just my opinion. :)

Driving at the top level of any motorsport takes talent. If NASCAR racing were as "easy" as F1 zealots like to think, any experienced F1 or other road-course racer should be able to go to NASCAR and win every race. Hasn't happened yet.

I follow both series. F1's circuits are most interesting, and the cars' performance is phenomenal. All too often, though, the actual race is little more than a high-speed parade, with little or no overtaking. Even the announcers get bored and start talking about other subjects. (Last week's Japanese Grand Prix was of course an aberration.)

Whereas in NASCAR it's fairly rare for a single car to start on the pole, dominate the race, and win by a wide margin. And even if that does happen, there are intense battles going on all through the pack. Often the race comes down to inches. And the drivers have actual personalities! So purely for entertainment value I'd give the nod to NASCAR.

There's an oldish joke that if you tune in to the last five minutes of a NASCAR race, you'll know what happened and who won. And if you tune in to the FIRST five minutes of a Formula One race, you'll know what happened and who won . . . .

At the risk of sounding like an old fart I'll mention that F1 was FAR more entertaining a couple decades ago. Back-and-forth on-track competition like we just saw at Fuji was to be expected in almost every race. I tuned out during the Schumacher years, so I'm not sure where it all went pear-shaped, but younger F1 fans don't know what they're missing.

You asked this in a biased place really, Personally I like F1, but that's really just because I grew up watching it. NASCAR is still good, it's a bit more rough and tumble with the cars built to take some hits so lots more action in NASCAR. F1 can get a bit boring when everyone settles into their positions and hopes someone else makes a mistake. How many times has someone come from the back to win a F1 race? Happens a lot more often in NASCAR.

Formula 1:
1. They make right handed turns as well as left handed turns.
2. Turn 1 lap one of ANY F1 race is the most exciting thing to watch EVER.
3. A scoring system that makes sense. Unlike NASCAR you don't get points for blowing your nose on lap 15 when over 200 mph.
4. The after race interviews are better because the driver's english is better than 99% of NASCAR drivers (and I'm a southerner)
5. Did I mention right handed turns?

I actually love them the two. they're very very diverse and that i'm happy they're. Ask Nascar followers what they love approximately Nascar and you will no longer locate those issues in F1. Ask F1 followers what they love approximately F1 and you wont locate those issues in Nascar. lack of wisdom spews from the two camps in this one. F1 is greater based around 'activity' and Nascar is greater based around entertainment. Nascar is a chilly tall draft beer and F1 is a tumbler of costly wonderful wine. Being a nut for the two, i'm hoping neither ever turns into greater like all different. they're the two spectacular yet of their own way. I merely desire human beings might carry greater appreciate for the only they dislike.

I think NASCAR takes more raw driving talent, but F1 is more refined skill. To muscle a 3600 pound beast of a machine around an oval at 200 mph while sliding sideways around every turn is much harder than letting the car do all the work, which is what they do in F1. Two words why F1 isn't as good as stock car racing:
TRACTION CONTROL!

I like F1 better. They drive on different circuits all over the world. Millions of dollars go into research and development and the cars looks a lot better than Nascar cars.

F1, The tracks are better, and i prefer the drivers, they've got character, plus F1 has Lewis Hamilton, and F1 has great history. NASCAR has a very American feel to it, where F1 appeals to everyone worldwide.

Even for an non-American I prefer NASCAR circuits to F1 for the fact it feels a bit soulless for non F1 cars to drive in, and NASCAR had plenty of decent races on road courses such as that in Sears Point and Watkins Glen, plus lots of entertaining races (and crashes) at the superspeedways

considering I have been to both Donington Park and Silverstone, the latter feels as if they have literally been castrated by Bernie himself, purely to suit the cars as they need flat circuits

In my opinion I prefer circuits that has lots of bumps and gradients such as Mount Panorama, Road America, Sears Point and Road Atlanta

Also from a lot of racing people who I have met, they don't like F1 circuits for that same opinion

Since I can't post any more, I'll edit this to second Jam_Til_Impact's opinion as I thought I had to pick between the two and for the fact I also prefer sportscar racing - F1 will never beat sportscar racing and nothing in fact will - witness Group C in the 80's - the series was getting bigger and bigger that Bernie Ecclestone was by 1989, was feeling the heat and for the fact the majority of the greatest races of all are sportscar races which doesn't take a simpleton to name at least one and what about F1, just Monaco

Also F1 fans need to take note that the majority of F1 teams now competing did in fact came from sportscar racing (McLaren, Sauber, BMW, Toyota, Ferrari, Spyker)

Driving around an Oval thats banked at both ends is hard work at over 200MPH. I think Nascar is one hell of a challenge as well as F1 and the cars do not have anything on the bodywork to provide "downforce" to keep them on the road at speed either! Those drivers have guts"!

I personally prefer Formula 1 by far!! Yes it does take more talent, it's a lot more interesting to watch, spectacular international sport and the cars look waaaay cooler than the nascar ones...plus they're faster! :-) F1!!
