Notre Dame would never, ever join a mid-major conference like CUSA or MAC. There was talk several years ago of them joining the Big Ten along with Penn State, but in the end only Penn State made the leap. Because of their long tradition, strong boosters, and TV agreement with NBC, Notre Dame isn't in the dire financial straits like many programs and doesn't really need the extra money a conference would provide through trickle-down bowl-payoffs and the like.
Let's be fair: this season is unprecedented in the annals of Notre Dame football. This is the worst they've ever been, and it's unlikely they'll stay THIS bad for many years. It would be short-sighted to join the MAC today and then be beating every team in the conference 60-0 in five or ten years.

They tried to join the Big Ten many years ago, but the coaches voted 6-4 against them and from that day forward, ND has made it on their own. Besides, when they were a great program and winning all those games and titles, they didn't have to share any of their bowl money or TV incentives and such, so WHY join a conference?

No Way they would evvvvvveerrrrrrr join a Mid Major. Theyre way too big and make way too much money, and are usually way too good to do that. They would only join the Big 10 or maybe Big East. The talent would be there and the money wouldnt be a huge cut. But it would be less money and ND are a bunch of snobs so theyll never do that either

they should, but they make so much money by not playing in a conference it's ridiculous. also they would never join a mid-major as bad as they are now a lot of people forget they won a national title in the early 90s so there is still some magic in southbend. also they would get beat by a lot of those teams anyway so it's a lot less embarrasing to lose to michigan, and USC and teams of that caliber.

Honestly, they would get beaten by half of Conference USA anyway.
Notre Dame has too much pride and too much money to join a conference.

That is a good suggestion. That's what they get for firing willingham and giving all his recruit class to Weiss. To think they gave him a bonus. He should be ashamed of himself. He needs to turn in his clipboard.

Not unless they lose that sweet TV deal with NBC. They probably ought to lighten their schedule a little though.

Maybe; Nonetheless, it's hilarious to see them have this type of season. Look at the next three Irish games: @ UCLA, Boston College, USC.
Much like the McDonald's slogan "I'm lovin it".

If it's up to me, no. They'll do just fine as they are. Whenever they come to LA to play USC, everyone shows up, and I mean
everyone.
