How commen/uncommen is perfect pitch?

I know someone said that it is 1 in 10,000 but i think that is way too little? can you lose perfect pitch?

Yes, my ear has gone off a little over the years sadly. I find I need a keyboard handy these days.

And no - I don't think its very common - I have never met anyone else with it as a musician.
