A smile from a stranger.
A warm hug from anyone.
When someone does a chore for me.
Breakfast in bed.
Getting an audition.
Meeting a new person.
Having a dream come true.
Going to a theme park.
Hanging out with friends.
Having time alone.
Getting Best Answer on Y!A.
Getting a compliment.
Doing something for somebody without them asking.
Cooking.
Playing the flute.
Acting.
Writing.
Reading a good book.
Those are just a few of the many, many things that make me happy!
(As you might have guessed, I'm a very happy person.)

One of the FIRST things that comes to mind is to be COMFORTABLE with yourSELF .. to know your talents/skills, to dream your dreams, to know that you have done your BEST and put forth the EFFORT that is necessary to ACHIEVE what you want to achieve.
The next thing to come to mind is to have special people in your life .. and ... this Empty-Nesting Single Retiree is VERY HAPPY at this time .. for I've finally been able to experience what it is like with a NEWLY Found love .. a REAL MAN who is kind, gentle, caring, loving .. who RESPECTS me and cares for me .. and has NOT hurt me in any way .. and gave his word that he would NEVER hurt me at all.
Finally .. find something that you are GOOD At ... and DO IT! FINALLY .. now that the children are out of the home, I HAVE my EARNED Pensions .. I am BACK in College, this time for FUN .. and you know what .. I FIND that I am VERY GOOD with my Photography, have taken plenty of courses in Digital Imaging/Design/Graphics/Photography, and have succeeded beyond my wildest dreams .. HARD WORK (tyes), but FUN in ways that my careers (with concentration in Math/Science) was NOT .. and I MEAN IT (I do have UGrad and Grad Degrees that were the basis of my careers). So now .. as a Retiree ... I CAN EXPLORE what I want .. and have NO FEAR doing so .. to find I ENJOY these NEW interests!
My FINAL POINT .. NEVER, ever, do you want to even try to be something you are NOT .. be WHO you are meant to be .. cherish those around you, and yes, respect them too. BUT .. this is very important .. ENJOY and EMBRACE your "Uniqueness" ... for that is WHY you will be cared for and cherished by others.
AND .. NEVER "Settle" for the 'warm body' that comes along. I've SURVIVED a Short DISASTER of a Marriage (to an abusive, violent sociopathic ex) .. and I can say this .. more than 2 decades out .. he STILL Torments me .. and yes, in August 2006 .. this jerk did BURGLARIZE my Home once again (with the willing help of an adult child). So WAIT .. be patient .. if someone does NOT come along .. then just BE a confident single .. which is what I SHOULD have done in the first place .....

I have learned to not depend on anyone or anything to make me happy, I only get let down that way. I tend to have unrealistic expectations of people. I guess it's so wrong to expect someone to treat you like you treat them, but such as life right?!
My daughter though, I can be having the absolute worst day, and look at her and atleast know that I did one thing right and smile to myself and that thought makes me happy =)

Sometimes I feel the same way " like i don't know anymore!" I get frustrated and think life isn't fare!!!
but I look at my children and their smiles and that's all that matter to me! It's not me anymore to think 1st ! The time will come when its " all me again!" Until then smile for your angel!â¥

My husband, my kids (sometimes) my granddaughter and my 3 little dogs. I lead a simple life. It doesn't take to much to make me happy. A good chocolate bar helps too.

Knowing that my child is safe, secure, and happy.
That and a new pair of shoes.
