Or "lie-berry" -- one of my favorites.
It's certainly more than just a regional preference (as Tomayto, tomahto). These are gross mispronunciations that completely ignore how the word is spelled. Most likely these are interpretations by folks who can't read, otherwise they would be able to see their mistakes.... maybe. LOL

I am not sure what you are talking about but I hope you mean in pronunciation? If so you have to realize that language has developed over time. In America today we have different accents in each region of the country and that does not include other English speaking countries. In recent years language has lost its value and is becoming shortened. Ebonics for example or texting. In fact I have many students that dont know how to spell but text really well. The problem becomes when students or children start to hear sounds differently. Sort of like Tomato Tamato type of thing. I hope this helps. I do agree though the English language is getting killed off slowly and it hurts my ears too.

Way back when, a lot of people couldn't read, they just imitated the speech of others and never knew the correct pronunciation because they couldn't read it.
