True, we met on yahoo personals. He kept emailing me and at first I didn't respond cause I really didn't think we had anything in common ( I'm a belly dancer and he's into dirt bike riding). But I decided to start a conversation with him, we talked on line through emails and IM for a couple of weeks, finding out we actually had alot in common. Then we met at a park and walked around talking for hours. Since the first time we met there hasn't been a day when we didn't talk to each other. We have been together for 7 months now and I just moved in with him and we couldn't be happier. We are soul mates and he is my other half.
Personally I do think on line dating works, cause it gives you a chance to get to know someone before you met that person, you just have to be careful for the weirdo's cause they are everywhere. Also you can meet ppl in a non intimating way and not in a dirty bar, which I think is awesome.
I would have never considered doing the online dating thing if it wasn't for my friend, she kept bugging me about cause thats how she met her husband.

A few friends and I frequented a local forum. So did she and a few of her friends. One of the people on the forum posted a party invite. I went, the person turned out to be her neighbor. We met at the party, but later found out that we'd exchanged 2 or 3 emails about 6 months before we met, just neither of us made enough impression on the other to continue talking.
