On your hard drive. Virtual Memory is physical memory (RAM) emulated on your hard drive.

Virtual memory is actually part of your hard drive. Your computer uses it when it runs out of physical (RAM) memory. Depending on your machine's setting's virtual ememory susally exist at the "back" of your hard drive so what your machine places there can be accessed quickly.

"virtual" memory is basically a section of your hard drive that is allocated by the computer to be used as memory when there is no more physical memory (RAM) available.
