It is not legal in the Netherlands either!
But in all the Netherlands are the same rules / laws as in Amsterdam.
Decriminalized.
But if you get arrested for whatever reason you still loose the stuff, and might get a fine or a longer time in jail because of it.

Oh...you mean marijuana - haha! Not sure of where else it is legal to buy. Maybe check on NORML.ORG
Did you know that in many US cities it has been "decriminalized"; meaning that if you get caught with under a certain amount you don't get arrested. You do get a ticket and they probably take your stuff - that sucks.
I am pretty sure that in Vancouver it is legal also - that is still North America though. Sorry couldn't answer your question, but definitely try looking on the website I told ya about.

in Europe is only legal in Holland, the rest of the countries have more or less strict laws and buying is not legal , in Italy they will take your driver license and passport away, in England, Germany, Switzerland or Spain they wont bother you if you smoke it in a crowded public place but you are discreet.
There is a trick i always used in my old times to buy in those countries. go to a very crowded public square, wait sitting in a bench reading a book, not a map. when you see the cops coming for a routine check on the premises see what people slowly disappear from there and then come back 15 to 20 minutes later when the cops are gone. approach one of those persons and ask for it. dont buy more than you are gonna use in one or two days. remember to take your time,be observant and don't wave the map.
check the laws of each country, and always be discreet, there is nothing more vulgar and easier to spot than a doped up foreigner trying to blend in.

In some it's legal for personal use. Many countries allow consumption but don't allow sale.
