He told me there was some bacteria in my urine (ewww) and prescribed me some antibiotics. This alone freaked me out by now I'm so WORRIED about anyother stuff that may be wrong. Would he have told me if my pap smear was abnormal or if there were some other issues?? I AM SO PARANOID that something is WRONG!! Any advice? Be gentle. :) Thanks, in advance.

This is my 2nd pregnancy, BTW. You think I'd be a bit more relaxed.

The bacteria could be a number of things. It could be a UTI (urinary tract infection) or a bladder infection. You are not the only one to get them when pregnant. As for an abnormal pap smear, the gyno/dr. would tell you right away if there were something wrong.

Drink some cranberry juice along with your antibotics and you should be fine. Take a deep breath and breathe.

Congrats on your second pregnancy!

OK I'm a man so I have little idea what you are going through. It is a fact of life that when you are pregnant you see more handicapped children. You hear all the old wives tales, ( I was in slooow laboour for over a week etc.) Your urine is usually sterile so if you have some bacteria there it means that you have some sort of infection which your body is getting rid of, so please take a few deep breaths. It is also a fact of life that when you are pregnant you will sooner or later get one hell of a fright from the medics. Things are usually OK. God bless and best wishes hope all goes well in March/April and that junior decides to arrive at a civilised hour .

nooooo worrys let me tell you being in my second pregnancy I cant tell you how different they are. With my son I had either a yeast, bacterial or bladder infection the entire time i was pregnant, this can be risky if your not treated but with proper care there is no need to worry. I ended up at about 6 mos being put on a constant dose of macrobid twice a day for the rest of my pregnancy which helped tremendoulsy! and my son was born healthy and on time so just try to relax, it can be freaky and bothersome but as long as you know what to expect and the symptomes, youll likley be just fine. good luck

Don't freak out. If there was something for you to even possibly need to worry about, your doctor would have already told you. They don't keep information like that from you. If your pap was abnormal, you would know. If they haven't told you anything yet from your pap smear then they don't have the results yet.

Don't stress so much. Getting a urinary tract infection in pregnancy is very common. Everything will be fine and you will find out the results of your pap test at the next visit. If there were any pressing issues, then they would call and ask you to come in.

Sounds to me like you just have a bit of a bladder infection that they picked up on your urine sample. The dip stick they do on the spot only tells them if there are white blood cells present(sign of infection) then they send a sample in to a lab to have a culture done(growing any bacteria present). If you have bacteria they treat it as an infection. Bladder infections are extremely common and I wouldn't assume anything else is wrong unless they said there is.

Bacteria in your urine usually isn't that big of a deal, and it is very easily treated, usually signifies a urinary track infection....which are extremely common with pregnant women. relax take the meds, and get more fluid in you...water, and cranberry juice are real good right now.
I don't think you relax no matter how many times your pregnant, I am pregnant with baby # 4 and still freakin over every little thing.

I am pretty sure it is just exactly what he said. You might have been on the verge of a bladder infection etc. the antibiotics should take care of it asap. Relax and look forward to preparing for a new little miracle in your home.

Yep, It's probably a UTI. When is your next appt? Thats usually when they give you the test results from your pap/initial labwork. If your that freaked, see if they are willing to repeat the urine sample and use several of the wipes to get a 'cleaner' catch of urine (ie, not contaminated) Congrats, and good luck!

I'm sure everything will be fine, just relax and take the antibiotics as your doctor says. If there was anything else wrong he would have told you, he obviously isn't gonna mess around, he just gets down to business to give you and baby the best care possible. Just relax, take care of yourself, and everything will be fine. Congrats!
