in subbing the anime, which software did fansub usually use?

i'm intrested in subbing some animes in my own language (WHICH IS NOT WESTERN LANGUAGE) but when i use flash mx the quality is not that good..............

This is a fantastic program, and is practically the only one that I use (and is the choice of many fansub groups). Plus, this works on anytime of computer OS (mac, windows, linux), so there are no worries there.
