first off a quick tip... when writting an exponent use this symbol ^ ( Shift + 6 ) this button should be on your calculator or just multiply it by itself that many times and you will get the same answer.

(1.012)^9 = 1.113331796 rounds to 1.113

(1.035)^8 = 1.316809037 rounds to 1.317

(1.012) ^ 9 is: 1.1133

(1.035) ^ 8 is: 1.32, rounded off to the nearest hundredth.

Hope this helps! If you have any more questions just message me.

In Windows, go to the Start Menu->All Programs-->Accessories-->
Calculator

If a scientific calculator doesn't show up, go to View and select Scientific.

Now you have an x^y key.

Good Luck!

You can do this problem on your own calculator. Just multiply the number by itself, and that will be the square. Then multiply the square by itself. That will be the number to the fourth power. Then multiply that number by itself and that will be the number to the 8th power. Multiply again by the original number gives you the ninth power.
