When & why did the Superbowl switch from end of January to beginning of February?

The Super Bowl used to be @ the end of January and now it's in February. When and why was this change made?

maybe when the 17 week bye week scedjule came along. afew years ago, they just had one week before SB and championship games. i think it was still last of january
