I haven't grown up yet, Dearest. I still have my toys and my Fraggle Rock dvds! (and for Kyle's information hee hee, I'm 45)
Actually I figured out what to do with my life as soon as I saw my Best Beloved. Everything changed as soon as I met her. After that, everything had to fall into place to meet "our" needs; although I have to admit, recently it's been a challenge with my health problems and she's had to make the sacrifices. I'd be giving her the Nobel Prize, the Gold Star, whatever I could for being so paitent.
As for Life? You don't figure out what you truly want to do with it. It figures out what It does with you.

You mean how did I decide what I wanted to be when I grew up?
Who says I'm grown up!?
Sure, I'm forty years old but I still sometimes don't feel all that grown up. I try to never actually grow up because that means I'd have to stop learning...which means I'd stop living.
I never want to grow up and stop living/learning. There's so much out there still to find out about!!
If you want to be picky, I guess I knew when I was a child that I always wanted to be an artist. I loved art, drawing, painting, anything creative. Now I do it for a living.
My son figured out what he wanted to do when he was nine. He was always good with math and science and then at nine he picked up his first intrument. From then on it was his passion. He's now majoring in Acoustic Arts and Music as a double major in college. The science of sound! He figured out a way to combine both his passion and what he was good at!!

What I've wanted has always, and still is, to be happy... there have been many interests that I've pursued but I've learned that life is ever changing ... and so your goals must change with it...
... in a nutshell:
do whatever interests you and give it a hundred percent...but be smart enough to know when it's not working or not making you happy and move on to the next thing without regret...

I sat down one day and made a list of all my interests and goals. I had been employed for a year after college and wasn't at all happy. I realized that I really wanted to travel and made that the focus of my work search. Been travelling ever since.....

I planned my life when I was 18. Everything that became my life has nothing to do with my plan. Funny how things don't work out, but still work out.
