I'm not sure if you want to know what both traditionalists and conservatives believe or you want me to pick one...........

I do find it amusing that so many non-conservatives answer when they clearly have no idea what conservatives believe as evidenced by their answers......

Real conservatives believe in the principles enshrined in the Constitution: freedom, liberty, equal opportunity.

Government : from the root word "govern". Meaning to control, restrain, manage, oppress.

Government, by definition, is a lack of freedom and must therefore be kept to a minimum. Any increase in government means a decrease in liberty and freedom.

We are pro-people. What I mean is people are responsible for themselves, not the government. We don't believe in social programs such as welfare, medicine, etc. We are pro-life, not pro-choice. We believe in the 2nd amendment. We believe that marriage is between a man and a women. We do not believe in entitlements, you should not get just because your neighbor has. If you want it work harder, don't ask the government to get it for you. We don't like taxes, taxes are to ensure that those who don't have it get it, or to fund unproven programs. We think with our minds, not our hearts. Sometimes the best way to help somebody out is to not help them out. We don't enable people, nor do we allow people to claim they are a victim. Each person is responsible for themselves in a nut shell with as little government involvement as possible in all aspects of our lives.

It depends on who you ask. Most conservatives I know do not agree on every issue. In general, however, Conservatives believe in small government, and little to no government control of business.

I can't speak for all Conservatives, but it is my belief that the government has overstepped its bounds in ALL arenas of our lives. Less government intervention is almost always preferable to more.

As a realist, however, I support policies based on which choice will increase government control the least.

It's all about creating an American atmosphere where you can work to further yourself, rather than being held back by high taxes, social programs, affirmative action, etc...

Apparently they believe in massive debt, a 66 decrease in the value of the dollar, not finding OBL but invading Iraq, also they don't believe in homosexuality unless it's in a public restroom, and they don't think prostititution should be legal as long as they don't get caught...and a few other things.
