You know, I really think Windows made a big mistake in the way they made vista.... It has some good features, but the fact that you can't use ANY of your old software on Vista really sucks. I even went to Best Buy and was ready to buy Vista, and they sales people there were like "Are you SURE you want to buy Vista?" Even THEY ended up talking me out of it...

So if you really don't have any software that you use on your computer now, then go for it. But if you have ANY software that you value at all, just stick with XP, i like it better anyway. Hope this helps!

As others have said, add more RAM. Vista needs at least 1.5 GB RAM. My Vista system is using 1.44 GB right now and that's with Superfetch turned off. Also, you'll wanna format your drive first. But you can still use the Vista upgrade. Just install Vista once with no license key. Then upgrade that install with your license key.

But the upgrade isn't really worth it. There are very few advantages to using Vista over xp.

vista is a monster and a substandard os. it sux and ive given it a fair shot on a new computer that came with it. ive had it for 7months and last night after shutting it down i turned it on and it didnt even ask for my password like it is supposed to. then vista decided to knock microsoft out of the game completely the pc still worked but like my browser had nothing at the top and i have kerpasky and spybot and hackthis and there was no bugs just vista not working. good luck
oh btw my pc is a sony in case you thought maybe it was a wimpy pc
vista doesnt have compatibility problems all you got to do is go right click program icon/properties/compatibility/run as xp

Vista is having a lot of compatiblity problems right now, especially with programs as the other user mentioned.

That and Vista kind of screws you in a way.. if you install it once, thats it, you cannot write back over it with XP.

Stick with XP for a little while longer.. Vista to a computer savvy person will quickly drive them insane.

I recommend against Vista. Vista is not as good as XP and most of your programs won't run in Vista. Also, your processor is a bit too old anyway.

Your system currently would work great under XP, if you upgrade to Vista, it will be totally different, I suspect in a few days time you will be asking 'How can I remove Vista?'

I rarely use the word "great" but you have everything you need for Vista and should have no problem.
