Anybody who says stuff like that in REAL life, that is being racist. In REEL life, that's just bad script. Enough said.

I am not a Filipino and have to say this was such a cheap shot taken at the entire medical and educational system in the Philippines. Remember that this was part of a script that was written and rehearsed and it is really up to each individual to conclude if this was racially motivated or just plain dumb, stupid and insulting on behalf of ABC.
Why would they use the Philippines and not any other country is beyond my imagination. And unless Desperate Housewives producers and ABC network can come up with an explanation to back up what was said in that episode, then my own conclusion will stand that this is not only insulting and stupid but racially calculated.
I am really surprised not to see or hear any Filipino Lawyers in the Los Angeles area waving the red flag and making comments or defending what was said!! If this was said about some Black Nation then Rev Al Sharpton and the ACLU would have been all over it by now.

I am not a Filipino, I do not think that this is racist at all. I do think it's funny and maybe a little insulting to the Filipino's but come on don't you guys make the same sort of jokes on your shows.
We had a Filipina actress/singer do a show here in Australia, this week. During her talk session she made fun of the Aussie accent was this racist, heck no, was it funny sure was.

It's a pity that Filipino's can't get this agitated about the political scene in their country.

edit
Are fake Diplomas, certificates etc. obtainable for a fee in the Philippines. If, as I think, they are then maybe this is what the show is having a go at. And , if this is so, shouldn't all this indignation be aimed at this situation.

I've answered a similar question just an hour ago. And yes, as a Filipino, I am aghast that such a stupid scriptwriter could be so callous as to write such a racist statement because it is a racist statement. It degrades the medical profession of the Philippines, not to mention, Filipino doctors as well. If we didn't have good doctors here, I suppose half of us would have been dead by now because, once or every so often, we get sick and who tend to us but our very own doctors? We can't all afford to seek treatment in America, you know. Maybe for you this isn't a big thing but call it Filipino pride, we are hurt.

Maybe if you went to Med School in the Philippines, anyone else is just a cry baby for getting mad. I guess these whiney little babies can't watch an episode of South Park or the Family Guy without being insulted 100 times! It's a TV show, they can say whatever they wanted, the doctor was white and American's are typically leary of doctors trained in 3rd world countries!

The statement implies that filipinos are not as good doctors, therefore it is a racist statement.
But I am not "insulted."
One, the character was supposed to be upset. You wouldn't expect an upset person to say politically correct things, would you?
Two, the show aims for realism I think. And it is part of reality that Americans would think Filipinos, or Burmese, or Vietnamese whatever would not be as well trained as they are. I'm not saying this is right or wrong, I'm just calling it as it is.
Three, this is mild, compared to what I've heard Americans say about poles, or jews, or blondes, or fellow americans.

i actually do have emails saved on my computing gadget, which I transferred by various not elementary drives, and diverse classes. The operative ingredient right this is that i comprehend the kind between digital mail saved on my device/ not elementary rigidity, or mail saved on exterior servers. actually, I made the blunders of storing many information based emails in one yahoo account for the sake of not clogging my not elementary rigidity. i did not get entry to it for various months, and it have been given deleted, because of the fact they seen it inactive. My undesirable, for not remembering to returned it up. there grew to become right into a courtroom case the place family members of a deceased soldier asked yahoo for the password to his account for glaring motives.. yahoo flat refused. So.. i for my section disagree that they are going to trouble keeping mail on server area, this is going to be deleted. Any sort of digital mail is extremely saved right into a text cloth document, then it fairly is inserted to the notes component of customary family members tree classes. the comparable is actual of any jpeg document that's composed of %. or scans. Now, whilst this technique places out a gedcom, any of which will become component of the gedcom document. This all is customary.. human beings could be insuring that their archives is totally secure. a reproduction of any gedcom should additionally be saved remote from the abode.... that's very actual once you reside in a position like Dallas (as I do) and have issues like wild climate/ tornados, etc.

I didn't think what she (teri) said was that offense it was not racist she was only ridiculing Doctor in a sarcastic fashion. Don't take it to seriously if something was indeed racist and stereotypical then do make a report or a petition to pull it off the air in your country racism should not be tolerated in the 21st Century.
