You will always have some sort of stage fright. It's normal and can be good. You have to learn to manage it .

First, be so prepared, you could suffer a blow to the head, but your lines will still come out on cue. Know your script and your blocking inside out.

Use your nervousness to check your props, costumes and make-up to make certain they are right and in the right spots.

Do not look at any member of the audience. If you must look straight downstage, look over the audience's heads or a similar spot. They will never know the difference.

Do not imagine the audience is naked. It could make you laugh or nauseated.

Remember that everyone in the place is on your side. The audience wants you to be good. The other actors want you to be good because if you look good, they look good.

Develop a routine before going on. 1.check costume 2. check props 3. say a prayer or scratch your nose or something. This will become a conditioned reflex. You will do those things, and that will calm you and you will be fine.

Keep some of that stage fright. It gives you an edge and keeps you alert to yourself and the other actors.

Sarah Bernhardt, who many critics consider the greatest actress of all time, always had stage fright. She knew that if she didn't have it, she no longer cared about her craft.

Great performers learn to work through the stage fright--in other words, feel the fear and do it anyway. The only way to do that is through constant practice.

Good luck.

Here's the big question...why do you want to be an actress? People who faint at the sight of blood don't become doctors, and people who are ALWAYS nervous in front of others don't become performers.
