im trying to write a 5 senses poem about loneliness.

It just stinks. You forget the true smell until you're there yet again.

To me, loneliness smells like the slough during goose hunting seasons when you're out shooting geese because you have nothing else to do. It can also smell like the gunpowder from the shotgun shells.
