Does anyone have a problem with a "war tax" to pay for our Iraq invasion and occupation? Shouldn't we be paying for it now rather than running up a debt? If supporters of this occupation had to pay for it out of their pockets now, would they feel different about it? There is only a small percentage of our population that is sacrificing now (our military members and their families).

How about war bonds, an option versus a tax a requirement. Maybe it would solve the problem maybe it will only help but I doubt it would hurt. And could you imagine if this was something that was intiated immediatly after 9/11. We would have been able to fund the war easily.

It does not take this much money to fight a war and to take this long! God, two of our aircraft carriers can take out the whole middle east in no time and completely dominate that part of the world. But thanks to political correctness and arresting our soldiers for doing their jobs perfectly along with all these idiot reporters over there, the war is not being fought but instead debated.
But with the politicians on BOTH sides getting money from the war, of course they are not going to be done with it. How long has the democrats been in senate and congress now? Have you seen them viciously get the troops back and to end a war, yet? God no. What is it? About 10 billion dollars a day going towards Iraq? Ever looked at just where all that money is going at the end of the week? With that kind of money what are we doing war wise then? Why would they want to stop that kind of money being flowed in?

It seems that Bush's plan is to give the people tax breaks in the hope they invest in America's economy. This would cause the economy to grow. Money for the war is borrowed from China, and will be payed back by the hopefully strengthened economy. Yeah, we could start paying it now. But that would hamper the economic boost effort. I'm not saying I agree with Bush's approach (I don't actually). I don't think that levying an additional tax will significantly change the opinions of war supporters or detractors.

I do not think the War Bond's Idea is a good one. Even though the federal government is in theory never supposed to go bankrupt, I wouldn't trust it from an investment standpoint while this president is in office.
The war tax is a good idea so we don't screw over are children.

We can issue war bonds instead, and let tax payers pay for the bonds and the interest on the bonds in addition to paying for the war.
What an Idea!
The dark side is strongest during war.

Tell you what. Lets use the money we spend on illegal aliens for the war. There would be a surplus of funds.

I think the President should ask for donations to keep the war going. I would be more than willing to make a donation.

I'm ok with it, Bushes 'go out shopping' BS hasn't done much to lower the debt.
