Wouldn't it be less painful and much easier than reproducing naturally?

It's one big ethical debate why it shouldn't happen.
Personally I'm fascinated in the subject, but maybe not the act itself. I have theological issues with it.

As for wouldn't it be easier than natural birth, no.
Cloning is in no way, natural. You're making an EXACT replica of a person, not the naturally selected genes from both consenting parents.
Besides, who'd give up sex to just have their kid grown in a vat?

HOWEVER...I can appreciate the use of cloning for recreating orgrans for transplant and possible life-span increase.

Uh... no.

Cloning technology is still pretty primitive ATM. We get egg cells, inject the DNA in them, close them up again and re-implant them into the uterine wall. Only about 1 in 10 egg cells survives this process.

No babies in bubbling pink Matrix vats yet.

That means it's not "easier" there's actually a small fortune in science stuff used and it's still a crap shoot. It also means the baby still has to grow up in a natural womb and will hurt as much as any baby when it comes out.

The only part missing is the sex and if you consider that the "painful" or "difficult" bit I feel sorry for you.

Wouldn't it be odd having a clone of yourself running around, I think so.

That would scare me....
2 of me running around - oh my goodness.
Just one of me is bad enough.
And who would we clone?
Not a lawyer or president i hope!
