John Kerry was perhaps the weakest candidate run by a major party ever. He is essence sabotaged his campaign with the term "global test" on the debates. At that point I knew he was toast.

John Kerry still does speaking engagements. He's alive and well.
As for "foregone", are you asking if life is deterministic or are you asking if there was election fraud going on?
Yeah, there was election fraud - but both parties were guilty of it. Who was more guilty? I have my suspicions, but I have seen no compelling evidence either way.
