I'm sure this question has been done before, and what he supposedly did was horrible. Latrell Sprewell played basketball again after choking his own coach on the court during a game!! Ray Lewis is still playing. Anyways, it just seems like to me that everyone is singling him out. Let him do his ten years or whatever, and leave him alone. Besides, I don't think a team would want him after this, except maybe Dallas.

To the people who said that Dallas wouldn't take him over Romo: I don't disagree at all. I was just merely pointing out Dallas' willingness to give players another chance. If they do however pick him up, he'll make a decent back-up to Romo if something should happen to him. You never know in the NFL.
His jail time isn't set yet, and I just put out the maximum sentence. I think he'll get something like 3-5, but probably serve 2-3.
Also I should add Mike Tyson to my previous list, and remove Ray Lewis since he was "not guilty." Sorry Ray. Also I'm sure everyone will agree that rape is worse than dogfighting.
And if anyone should have been banned in sports, it should have been Latrell Sprewell for what he did on the court to his coach. But I guess I'm a softie, and think people should get second chances.

The 10 year maximum i referred to earlier is for the state charges, not the federal, at least that's what yahoo told me.

I think its a question for the NFL as a business. Do they want their brand to be affected by having a dog abuser and killer associated with the NFL brand? If they think he did his time and has changed his ways, they may feel its an acceptable risk and allow him to play. But if he is out for 10 years, he probably can't come back to play competitively. too long to be out of the game. but if he does 2 years or 3 years or something, and publicly makes a convincing case for having seen the error of his ways, well Americans love stories of redemption. And he is a rare talent. So the NFL may feel its worth the risk.
Its really the call of the NFL. He plays in a league that has a very large and valuable asset in its brand. They need to protect the brand, and decide if his negatives outweigh his positives.

Yes. And for those out there who set on "judging" people, you're being far too critical. You act as if he was a Pope, or some moral leader... He wasn't. Get off his back.
I swear some people love to see others (who happen to have it all) fall down. It seems to give you (judges) a sense of being better than someone because he fought dogs. Good point made by a couple on here saying that they are dogs, not humans. And to make that outrageous statement that because he tortured dogs, he'll do it to humans is plain stupid!!!
You can't say the same about hunters? Why because it's legal? A lame excuse. Killing is killing, regardless if you have a license, or in the right season, to do so. Pit bulls are bred to fight, does anyone here realize this. They were banned for this reason, along with their overall (natural) aggressive manners. Quit blasting Vick because he's an easy target. Try tackling some of the real issues that are plauging our society, like the War, lack of health care, or the rising educational costs (since most of you are quick to call someone a thug, this could greatly help). People need to relax!
I doubt he'll be the same after this. I do think he should be allowed to play again, hell the Pats head Bill B lied to Goddell's face. Either way, you people are way too quick to want to condemn someone.

Well why don't you look up what Ray Lewis was CONVICTED OF, compared to what Vick is CONVICTED OF. Very, very different crimes. Vick is convicted of a far worse crime and has State Charges still coming. He shouldn't be allowed back in the NFL. If I did this would I get my job back? Not likely. Sure I have a better chance BASED ON MY JOB. So let's say a CEO did something like this. Do you think they would have their job back? NO. So treat him like AN EMPLOYEE which is what he is. Let him work at McDonalds or something, like anyone else would end up having to do.

Sprewell should have been banished from basketball for life. A very poor example for our young kids playing the sport.
As for Vick , my opinion is that this would set the best example to the many millionaires that receive that huge signing bonus coming into the pros. The punishment fits the crime. He's a thug and so is his brother is. Remember when the brother stomped on Elvis Dumervil in the Louisville game?
Pete Rose has been banished from baseball in my opinion, didn't do anything near as bad. Betting on your own team didn't hurt anyone.

First off let me say that I'm not a sports fan at all. I would have a hard time believing that any team would want him to play for them after this. But, you have pointed other cases where athletes have been allowed to continue.
There have been celebrities that say, he did nothing wrong. With that, who knows he may find a place to play again.
My opinion is that we need to really start looking at pro-athletes and hold them accountable for their actions. Personally I don't think he should be allowed to play. But it's not up to me.

In ten years, no one would take him seriously as a football player again. He wasn't all that good to start with. Nah, whatever chance he ever had, he threw away with both hands. Good enough for him. A person who would abuse and torture animals is one step shy of abusing and torturing human beings. It is a personality trait that cannot be erased. Once an abuser; always an abuser. Anybody want their child to look in admiration at such as that? No, I don;t think the man (and I use the term loosely) should ever be allowed on a field ever again.

Sure he should be allowed back into football after serving his time. Will anyone want to take him after 10 years of not playing football? Doubtful

I think Vick should be able to play after serving his sentence I also believe a lot of football players participate in illegal actions and don't get punished hard enough. It really makes me sick that he is looking at some serious time when rapist, and drug addicts selling to our kids are getting 10-15yrs and getting out in 2. He's likely going to serve most of his time just because the public will be watching. It's B.S.

yes vick should be allowed to play again but the real question is who will sign & when will he get out of jail? remember he cut a plea w/ the feds & he will serve at least 1 1/2 years in jail. then the state is filing charges against him. he could get more time. by the time he gets out of jail he will be in his 30's & not the same guy he once was. that's sad. i blame the owner blank for letting this go on. how in the world would anybody spend hundreds of millions of dollars on somebody & ur telling me u DIDN'T KNOW HE WAS DOGFIGHTING!!!. absurd. if i was an owner & i was about to spend money on him best believe i would fully investigate that man's character & activities before hand. simply put vick was used to sell tickets & when they couldn't use him anymore they let him go. sad that owners can get away w/ that.

Yea Dallas would totally take Vick over Romo....
I don't see why not. If a plumber had done this nobody would care if he was able to be a plumber again or not. Playing football doesn't put any dogs at risk, so we shouldn't keep him from doing his job. The NFL shouldn't keep him out, but he'll have to find a team that wants him too.
You people are pathetic! If you were arrested for this, when you got out you would STILL be able to get a job in your old trade. This is what he does for a living. People piss and moan about celebrities getting special treatment, but now you want to come down harder on him than you would any normal person. Sure Vick is a scumbag and a low life, you can't totally kick him out.
