One tree grew tall and skinny this year, one grew more full, a little shorter, and the trunk even was larger. The shorter one leans a little and the base of the trunk is starting to lose its bark. It is still very strong at the trunk, but the bark is coming off about the first 6 inches of the tree. Would the weight of the tree(I planted it this spring) and the rapid first year growth cause this tree to stress like this?? I have since staked both trees to stop them leaning.
