Who do you think they will keep, and who do you think they will let go?

I think that Green, Glavine, and El Duque will go. I think Alou might stay another year, Castillo might stay another year or two, Gotay might stay (if Castillo goes), and Paul LoDuca might stay another year. I have no idea if Delgado's contract is up, but they should let him go.

Green, Glavine, and ElDuque really have to go. (Glavine especially, Sunday's performance was unacceptable).

LoDuca is probably gone also; I think Castillo and Moises are back. Delagdo is under contract for one more year. Omar can't move his contract or Wagner's and Beltran has a no-trade clause...

As a Braves fan, I'd love to see them keep all these aging players. Part of why the Mets faded (in addtion to having a choking, panic-button manager) was they just wore down. Glavine and El Duque are perfect examples. If they were 5 years younger the MEts would be in the postseason easily.

Glavine may very well go back home to Atlanta, where he really never wanted to leave (his friends and family call it home). The only reason he left to begin with was the arrogance of the Braves GM who refused show him proper courtesy in negotiation.

The question for them really is "how much to rebuild?" Any time you make siginficant changes you risk a fall, and this division is too tough to slip. The Braves will be better next year, and Philly will be just as good. The Marlins will be more mature and healthier, and even the Nats are improving.

If I were New York I'd definitely ditch El Duque and get a younger power arm to replace him. Glavine isn't their choice -- he has an option to stay. LoDuca is a toss up, and I think Beltran is also a free agent I would bring back.
More than anything this team needs more innings out of starters -- that was their downfall (outside of Randolph).

Castillo, Alou and Gotay are going to stick around I think. Delgado has more years on his contract remaining. Also you can't really hold Delgado responsible for his numbers, he was hurt basically all year and recovering from surgery. He'll be alright next year.

As for the rest of the bunch Reyes and Milledge need their heads examined. They should be hustling every play with their youth.

my opinion is the same for all baseball teams, not just the mets, offer those free agents that you want back fair and non guaranteed contracts. all teams need to stop over paying for players and the money the players get should be based upon performance, deliver and get paid, dont deliver, oh well. teams need to wake up soon or the fans will be paying 3.5 million to see a game at some point.

I say get rid of all the free agents except for Castillo. I also think they should make a good run at Andruw Jones, who is going to be released by the Braves.

Let them all go.

They are getting old and require to much money.

take the year off and rebuild around Reyes and Wright.

Develop your young talent and look for the long haul and not the quick fix.

PS - Go Cubs.
