The same reason there is an "exact reason" for blacks, whites, indians, blonde haired people, blue eyed people, people with genius minds, people with learning disabilities....people come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and sexual orientations.

There is a lot of research going on on this.
None of it indicates that it is preference. Most indicate that it the result of a series of events that happens to the fetus while in the womb.
For instance, in families with a lot of boys, those that are born later in the birth order are more likely to be homosexual than those born earlier. This may be an evolutionary response to creating more people to take care of the massive number of kids and to try to cut down on the number of mouths to feed.
There are also indications of parts of the brain being sized differently in homosexual men the heterosexual men.
In any case, it is still completely unknown whether there are genetic causes for homosexuality or if it is simply a feature of the oven you are baked in.
However, again, there is absolutely no scientific evidence (credible, repeatable), that this preference is effected after you are born.

There is no exact reason. Instead there are hundreds of claims tossed around. As soon as you deal with one they invent another. So your like a dog chasing his tail. To make matters worse, We are attempting to educate millions and yet at any time we are only reaching a couple. All very frustrating. But it's a task that had to be done. EDIT Dude. . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . Please excuse my pedantic nature but I have to pass comment on the Leviticus quote from another person. The book of Leviticus was written for a defined people, the Levites who were a tribe of Israel. Assuming he/she is a Christian rather than from that tribe, why would he/she be observing its rules and also why is he/she ignoring the ones that don’t suite them. There is NO verse in the Bible quoting either God or Jesus expressing a negative opinion on homosexuality. Note "none." End EDIT . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . .

I deff think that it is something that you are born with. however the reason people are born gay, I believe is a simple one, I believe that it is a natural form of population control. That as we begin and as we currently over populate the planet, nature gets involved and uses whatever means necessary. Which in this case instead of disease comes in the form of a non-reproducing human being.
I am gay, and I have accepted my role. I am not to reproduce, but I can adopt and take care of the lives that are already here.

Wow if there was a choice, do you really think anyone would choose to be gay. When were you last laughed at or beaten up or lost a job. Then there are the lies most have to tell to protect themselves. Try working this out yourself, its not hard, the Muslin's and other religion's want them put to death.

For the same reason that you are (presumably) straight. You were both born that way.
A gay friend once told me that he never would have chosen this orientation, given the climate he grew up in. Before you make any assumptions about what you think about homosexuality, have the decency to ask them about it. Some would probably be glad to talk to you, if only to dispel the false assumptions.

exact reason, doesn't exist. though we do, and have since all of time, not only in the human race.
different scientists have different findings, different people have different views.
whether "born that way" or "made a conscious/subconscious decision during their youth"
if this is the answer you are seeking, you will never find it.

The exact reasons is unknown but there are many theories which try to explain. Of all the theories one holds true and that it is not something you choose to be. If you think so try changing your orientation.
