First of all please no ignorant answers, I am truly curious. This morning I heard on the news that a 15 year old boy here in Chicago is being expelled from school for bringing a photo of another student who is topless to the school and showing the other students. Now the family of the boy is suing the school saying that the school expelled their son because he is black. This boy goes to a predominately black school in the inner city but the family still have the nerve to claim it is racism! My thing question is this, is any one else tired of people pulling the race card rather than taking responsibility for their actions? NO IGNORANT BIGGOT RESPONSES PLEASE!

One has to think that this is not the first problem the school has had with this child and that this was the last straw in his record.

Lina H you, to me, are part of the problem, you see every thing bad that happens to the black community as a race thing! Be honest with yourself, unless you are an 70 or 80 year old man or woman you have no clue what true racism is. I will not deny that racism still exists but be honest homophobia is more of an issue than race is today.

From what the news said the boy took the picture of this girl while she was changing at a friends house and did not have her permission.

The kid is a punk and his parents are low lifes..it is not about color...i would say the same thing if the family was white, yellow or blue
This race card business is getting tiresome..it has too end..all it does is worsen the race situation and give fuel to the bigots

Hey!!
Well, with regard to the issue about the young man....the frustrating thing about issues like this is alot of times we will never have the full truth of the situation...
So I, like so many other will have to speculate here...
He should not have brought the photo to school....let's be honest, it's a staple of male pubescence to have girly mags under the mattress in a box in the closet, etc. BUT you do not bring that mess to school with you...on that alone, he should have been disciplined, but not expelled....
Unless there are other offenses and this was the last straw....see, we don't know that yet (at least I don't).
Now, for the race card comment.....
When the race card is pulled, sometimes it is with good merit, and action does need to be taken. But if you know in your heart of hearts that you are using race as an excuse to get over and not be accountable for your actions, you are no better than a biggot.
Example: you get arrested for stealing, you pay the piper and get released from jail only to find out later that people from another race steal from there all the time and never get in trouble...
Bottom line: although what they are doing is wrong....YOU BROKE THE LAW!
Thank you for your question and I respect your honesty.....

No this isnt racism but it is a case of a black family screaming racism to get out of trouble. I went to a very diverse highschool and this happened alot. A black kid would come to school with a gun and get expelled and the family would call racism (it never worked since about 75% of the staff was black) same thing with a white kid (but noone took the family seriously and they usually ended up moving their child to a less diverse school) and same thing with a latino kid. Its just stupid. If you know that you arent suppose to be bringing a certain material to school then dont bring it!! I mean lets say that Cush (our principle) ignored any of those kids because he was afraid of being called racist who knows how many dead people there would be.
EDIT* The family should just shut up about the lawsuit because the girls family could sue them for everything that they have and more. And if it was my daughter I would!!

wow, expelled is pretty serious stuff.
if it was just a nude pic of anyone else i am sure he wouldn't have been kick out of school, but maybe detention or suspension.-no matter of what race he is.
but since the photo was of another student that does put him in a situation doesn't it? that was incredibly stupid of him.
the race card is used often, unfortunately i dont think it has any footing in a case of shear stupidity like this kid proved.
i think the "race card" need not apply in this case.
therefore, yes its pointless to try it, its over used and this is a
laughable matter to attempt to use it.
the kid was wrong, the girls must be so humiliated too.
i say kick him out of school. i dont care if he is purple or green, he should be so embarrassed for himself and his school embarrassed for him.
maybe since the school is predominately black they should take a vote from the students to see how they feel?
there is where the answer will lie.

It may or may not have been the "final straw"; it may have been the only straw. But it had nothing at all to do with him being black. It had to do with bringing inappropriate material to school and passing it around. It had everything to do with him being 15 years old and obsessed with boobs, which, as far as I am concerned, is okay, but not at school. And not pictures of another student....that's just tacky. (But 15 year old boys are mostly tacky). Schools are not going to accept behavior like that, and they shouldn't. The boys parents are idiots, looking for notoriety. No kid learns anything when his parents rush in to bail him out every time he does anything wrong. Happening all the time with kids around the nation, no matter what color. Of course, maybe the parents already know he isn't going to learn anything, so they are just going for the 15 minutes they will get out of this.

I'm sick of the words "race card" because they can trivialize a valid claim.
Everyone who commits a crime should be charged and treated EQUALLY under the law. No disparity in sentencing - justice is blind, right?
Yeah, there's some people who will use whatever they can to escape punishment, not just "race cards." There are also people who really are being discriminated against and sentenced unfairly and when they try to bring attention to it, people get pissed and accuse them of using the race card. You just have to get as much of the story as possible and make your own judgements.

I can only see the race card being severly abused after the Jena 6 case. Being expelled for showing a picture nude of another student is a big deal, and he is lucky being expelled is the only punishment he is getting. Any budy regardless of what color should be delt with doing something of that filth.

Loyola Academy is not a predominately Black school. You need to get your facts straight before spewing and downplaying someone's claim to racism. I'm in agreement with Lina H, everything is not about racism, but it sure does play a role in a lot of cases. You can sit and ignore and deny all you want, but don't downplay someone's feelings just because you don't want to deal with racism. Get over yourself.

Could it be that they are illiterate but trying to say that their cultural values don't find anything wrong with looking at topless women?
I'm clueless as to why showing a photograph of a topless student (you didn't say whether it was a male or female, for example) would be grounds for denying someone an education.
Remember, public education is for the purpose of creating a citizenry that knows the generally accepted rules and is able to vote. I should think that this kid shows the need for more education, not less.
Where do you (and the Chicago school board) get off by imposing your sexually-stifled value system on this kid and his family? Lots of National Geographic magazine pages show that many cultures don't think anything is shameful about topless people.
Sheesh!

Um, i'm a girl, and that i might nevertheless look at nude p.c.. of Megan Fox before i might look at nude p.c.. of Shia Lebouf, LOL. he's alright, yet Megan is downright warm. If i replaced into going to look at nude p.c.. of a girl, she'd in all probability be my decision. besides, my protection could be that i replaced into utilising it for an paintings challenge. i replaced into attempting to locate the ideal lady kind. i might upload that nudity is usually used in paintings, and there is not any longer something incorrect with it.
