1) its probably some hardware error mostly it could be your ram try changing or removing one of your rams and try it again
2) and for cloning u need to boot from cd and copy partitions into different drive or different partition for this the best bootable cd is hiren's boot cd which has many useful utilities and has a section of cloning utilities but u need to download hirens boot cd iso image and burn it to cd ...

Could be bad power supply or PC is overheating. Try Cleaning it out

have you altered the BIOS of your computer as it sounds as it is loading from the CD drive and not the hard drive
