Exactly the opposite of what Bristow said. The Red Sox had the tiebreaker and chose to play today.

The Indians play the Yankees as the Wild Card plays the best record unless it is in their division (ie the Red Sox with the tiebreaker have the best record)

Boston retains the #1 AL seed regardless of what happens in the Division Series -- playoff record has never been a consideration (beyond "advances" or "eliminated").

Boston hosts Games 1, 2, 6*, 7* of the ALCS against either Cleveland or Noo Yawk if they get that far.

* If necessary.

The Red Sox have home field advantage all the way through the playoffs if they continue to win. They have a better head to head record over cleveland for the season.

properly i think of Boston will win 108-106. After LeBron shoots misses and Shaq gets the rebound passes it to Mo Williams and misses the three. BQ = I say Kevin Garnett gets 22 factors and Jamison gets 14. howdy I basically decide to tell you which you're a reliable answerer and a question Asker.

Man I am so glad I wasn't the only one confused about this. I asked a friend (note - my source loves baseball too much), and he said that this year the AL was trying something new. Whoever had the best record in the AL gets more days off and the worst record (not the Wild Card v. Best Team anymore). Since there was a tie between Boston and Cleveland, and Cleveland held the tie-breaker, they chose more days off between the games in the first series (they will only have to use 2 or 3 starters in a 5 game series (see the dates of the games). Since Cleveland chose this, boston got the worst record (Angels) of the teams in the playoffs.

Again - don't feel stupid because I didn't understand it either.

Go Sox!!

- Later Note -

Thanks for clearing that up then. Guess we all have friends that can embarrass us on the internet.

But seriously thanks for the update!!

It doesn't matter because this is Cleveland's year. We are winning the World Series and there are no Braves or Marlins that can stop us.

I think it comes down to the season series between Boston and Cleveland to see who has homefield.
