Hi, I'd like to to a grand, romantic journey that evokes memories of the golden age of world travel throughout the earliest part of the C20th. A friend has recommended the Trans-Siberian express (London-Russia-China by train) or a passage on a steamer through the South China Sea.

Starting in Britain, what do you recommend?

Thanks!

I think that your friend has a great idea.
I went around the world last year and hit 17 countries. You might also consider India. Many of the old traditional British Raj type hotels are still in business and this really evokes the images of old colonial Britain. Its quite pricey to travel this way but when in India, first class has many rewards.

I wish I could go on either of these trips. Have fun.

Hike all the way to the Great Wall of China, then get the bus home.
