Avatar. Too many weirdos out there. Besides, the Avatar gives some type of idea of the person behind it, either in their appearance or their thinking.

depends on the persons preference. but mine, obviously, is an avatar. i realize some people know others on here in real life, but i dont and id like to keep it that way! im always open and honest on Yahoo Answers about some things i wouldnt want people knowing about me. and to me, thats the beauty of the internet, anonimity. the last thing i want is my face plastered up beside some embarrasing answer or question ive posted!

an animated avatar is cute and it expresses your current mood depending on how you touch-up the facial expression of the avatar.
own picture is so public for one's privacy.
