Go to Morningstar.com, pick 2 5 star rated funds that don't require more than $500 minimum initial investment. Historically, mutual funds offer the second highest returns of all investments other than stocks.
The reason I suggest 2 funds is the notion of diversification, e.g.don't put all your eggs in one basket. Lastly, Morningstar is a well respected rating service, use them.
