I had an emergency ultrasound at 27w5d and was told that she was two pounds seven ounces and in the 49th percentile, so that's about as close to average as you're going to get!

I asked my OB how they could tell the weight and he said that's an estimate based on measurements.

I don't think there's really such a thing as an overweight fetus but if there's something amiss in your chemisty (gestational diabetes, for example) the doctor may caution that it can lead to a larger baby or other complications, and treat you accordingly.

According to my pregnancy book, your baby weighs around 2 lbs (1 kg) at this time. But, I don't really think there is a such thing as an "overweight baby" in the womb - all babies are different. And, ultrasound is not very accurate for identifying your baby's weight anyway. You should not be trying to control your baby's weight. All you should be doing is focusing on eating healthy and not taking in a lot of crap. If you aren't eating a ton of sugar or fatty foods, your baby will be just the weight nature/God intended for him/her to be.

There is no such thing as an overweight fetus....you dont do anything but eat properly, rest and exercise for your own health.

Fetal Development
Your baby weighs almost 2 pounds; measures around 9.2 inches from crown to rump; and hears noises, responds to light, and is generally more aware of its surroundings. In the same way that you can see a flashlight if you hold it against your palm, your baby can see the light coming through your belly. You may notice increased activity when in brighter light and decreased activity in darkened rooms. Its hearing is fully developed, and as he or she reacts to sounds, its pulse increases. Your baby will even move in rhythm to music!

Well exercise and eating healthy are pretty much the main things. Bike riding, and swimming are both very good for you, and it's great if you live near the beach. You should also get half an hour of exercise every day, so just going jogging or walking the dog (if you have one). Get more exciting ways to lose weight here:

it depens on the baby really...like us we all weigh different but generally at 26 weeks the baby should be around 1 pound 12 ounces (794 grams) and at 27 weeks bub should weigh around 2 pound mark (900 grams). to control the weight of the baby i guess just eat healthly stay away from fast foods ect what ever you eat the baby eats aswell.

Beware of "fat-free" or "zero trans fats" foods as you will be trading fats for huge numbers of sugar or sodium.

Chances are you're eating too fast. Try holding a conversation while using a meal so you're not necessarily gulping down more than it is advisable to feel full.
